I thought for a minute, and decided I could probably fit more junk in the wagon - water bottles, sweaters (just in case), snacks, some binoculars, pinecones, sticks, etc., so we opted for the wagon.
Turns out the kids like being pulled in the wagon. A lot. Like for what seemed like a couple of miles and at least an hour and a half or so, and so much that one of them never got out. One of the others liked nothing more than to try and get in and out (over and over again) while I was pulling. And they always made sure that all three of them were riding at once (and dragging their feet) on all the uphill parts - are there brakes on this thing?
They are funny kids, and except for a minor disagreement about who got to lay down and whether that meant they could put their feet in the other one's space or not, we all had lots of fun. We definitely enjoyed the afternoon together and got a little exercise too (at least I did!).
