Pumpkin Patch

We took a day trip to the farm to pick a nice "Cinderella Pumpkin" and had a lot of fun:
hiking through the pumpkin patch, riding the train, winding through the corn maze, a loop on the hay ride, standing outside the petting zoo, and eating snow cones because it was surprisingly warm. The boys also got to pick their own smaller pumkins named Pump, Kin, and George.

Beware of . . . .

#1 At soccer practice, T got a little too close to some black ants. (This happens at least once each soccer season to somebody) Typical: child crying = mother running, followed by swatting of ants off feet. . .knees. . .diaper. . .stomach. . .neck! Whew, got'em all. Didn't seem to bother him too much until that night and the next 36 hours. Poor kids hands and feet swelled right up (no thanks to the benadryl). After a trip to the doctors and another perscriptions later, we are on the road to recovery.

Jacob is very excited about being able to play this year, his cool green jersey, and having Dad for a coach!

Seasons of life

I often hear people refer to different stages of life as "seasons". If you were to ask me which season of life I am in right now, I would have to say winter because as my friend often jokes, "picking up after your children is like shoveling snow during a snow storm." I was reminded of this saying when N called me back in the dining room (which I had just finished cleaning up the playdoh and left) because he wanted to show me something:

This is a picture that I'm especially proud of - Tyler trying to burn a bug using a magnifying glass while we were at the St. Johns Pioneer Day parade. Tyler didn't quite get the hang of it (he's in the shade), but Nathan became quite proficient at it.
